Don't Exit Your Business

In a few weeks, I’ll be in Bucharest 🇹🇩 for the Amazing Days event, February 18th-19th, speaking to 100 advanced Amazon sellers about why they shouldn’t sell their Amazon business right now.

You see, during a recession, money is tight and most potential buyers are not ready to put in high multiples to acquire brands.

Instead, what you should do, is put your head down and get to work.

You should act as if you’re the buyer of your own business and:

1. Optimize your listing images and SEO.
2. Negotiate prices with existing and new suppliers.
3. Check to see if you can shrink your packaging size.
4. Explore new variations and new products to launch.
5. Perform a free PPC audit with 3 different PPC agencies.
6. Have a plan in place on how to grow your brand by at least 5x.
7. Once you have that plan - Have the team, systems, and funds to support it.

When you sell your brand and expect a 4x multiple on your 12 months profit, the buyer is not willing to sit and hold the asset for 4 years to get their investment back, they want to get it back in 2 years. For them to do that, they need a growth plan with clear systems in place. More than anything, that’s what you’re selling them.

The buyer is paying for the brand but is buying the growth.
