Networking = Everything

At the bottom of this email, there’s a list of the events I’ll be speaking at in the first half of 2023. Feel free to scroll down and not read the entire email. I’ll be ok, promise.

I’ve always hated “networking”. As an introvert, I don’t enjoy talking to other people.

Here’s a quick explanation by Simon Sinek on introverts vs extroverts:

Introvert - Starts with 5 coins a day. Every time they talk to someone, a coin is taken away.

Extrovert - Starts with 0 coins a day. Every time they talk to someone, they receive a coin.

Over time, I’ve learned that this is only partially true. I think extroverts can find something to talk about with almost anyone and have a pleasant conversation with. I think that we introverts, enjoy talking to people who care about the same things we care about.

I can talk about selling on Amazon and business 24/7, but when I’m talking to other parents in my kid's kindergarten, I usually mumble something about the weather. I think that introverts are more selective about the topics they enjoy talking about and the people they enjoy talking to.

In this Amazon game, I learned that in order to improve quickly, I need to develop relationships with the top players in the game.

After 8 years, of speaking at every event in the industry and knowing many of the top sellers and consultants who I can call my friends - I have created a simple set of rules. By following these rules, you will pull any success you want in life - In business, friendships, and love.

How do you do that?

How do you get closer to someone else?

Let’s say there’s this top seller that you want to get closer to.

Do you message them on social media with a bunch of questions?

Do you run up to them after their talk and ask 10 different questions?

Do you tie them up and beat them down until they tell you everything they know?

No.

You do none of these things because this is not a friendship.

Friendship starts by giving, not by asking, demanding, or even paying.

When you become obsessed with giving and serving, everything will begin to change.

The way to get closer to someone is by giving them value.

This business doesn’t have to be a lonely one, I highly encourage sellers to travel and meet with others who are on a similar journey. One relationship can change your business completely.

This year, I’ll be out on the road again and speaking at a few events.
